How to Remove a Red Wine Stain from Grout

Red wine is delicious, and it is known to have many great health benefits when consumed in moderation, but red wine is known to stain a lot of things it comes in contact with including clothing, furniture, and grout.

In most homes, grout is white or a lighter color, which means it can easily show stains. Since it is porous, grout will absorb all the red wine it encounters. Red wine stains easily and grout can be difficult to clean, so this is a bad combination. However, with the right grout cleaning and sealing products, it will look like the red wine stain never happened.

Most DIY cleaning articles may tell you to clean with bleach or ammonia or white vinegar. Sure, these home mixes may work, but they also aren’t really cleaning the grout, and many of these chemicals can actually cause the grout to crack.

To remove the tough wine stain, you want to first blot the area dry with a clean cloth. Wipe the area clean. You may notice your grout is stained a reddish tint now from the wine.
